Kenelm accommodates up to 70 girls and three members of staff. The house (previously Aldhelmsted West) has been carefully renovated keeping many of the much-loved period features. Spacious study bedrooms have been created for the Lower Sixth and the younger girls have bright and airy three and four-bed dorms. Kenelm is a very friendly, affirming and homely house; the girls feel secure and can make friends across the year groups. The original Kenelm was built in 1928 and the current housemistress is the eleventh in its history. |

Housemistress |

Sian EvansSian is the proud Housemistress of Kenelm, joining Sherborne Girls in September 2025 with extensive experience in pastoral leadership and all-girls’ boarding. Before arriving at SG, she served as Housemistress at Wycliffe College, where she was also the Designated Safeguarding Lead, and previously as Deputy Housemistress at St Mary’s Calne. She holds a Master’s in Residential Education from the University of Buckingham and the Boarding Schools’ Association Advanced Certificate in Pastoral Care. A passionate Art teacher, Sian also holds a Master of Fine Art degree and describes teaching Art as the perfect blend of passion and profession. Having grown up in boarding and attended a boarding school herself, she feels entirely at home in the rhythms, routines and joys of full boarding life. She loves the energy, unpredictability, and huge sense of fun that comes with working with young people. Sian lives in the boarding house with her husband, their two young sons and their two Cockapoos - beloved regulars in the Kenelm office. When not in the classroom or house, she enjoys cooking, camping, and exploring the outdoors with her family. She is delighted to be leading Kenelm and to be part of such a warm, kind and close-knit community. Sian writes: “Kenelm is a wonderfully close-knit community where every girl is truly known, valued and supported. As one of the smaller houses at Sherborne Girls, we take great pride in ensuring that each individual feels heard, encouraged and able to thrive. From the moment you arrive, you will be welcomed with warmth and kindness, helping Kenelm quickly become your home away from home. We hope you will embrace the many opportunities available at SG, nurturing existing talents, discovering new passions and representing Kenelm with pride in the classroom, on stage or on the sports field. We’re here to support you through the exciting moments and the challenging ones, and to celebrate your growth every step of the way.”
