Annie joined Sherborne Girls as both an academic and sports scholar. Equally at home in the classroom and on the hockey pitch, she brings the same level of focus and energy to every challenge she takes on. Annie is a dedicated scholar with a particular passion for Chemistry, Physics and History. This year, she has particularly enjoyed the WW2 topic in History and deepened her understanding through independent research, contributing to an article on the history of modern field hockey to the Sherborne Girls magazine |
As an academic scholar, Annie has relished the opportunity to collaborate with peers through joint sessions with Sherborne Boys, sharpening her critical thinking and ability to work in a team. Her achievements reflect her drive. She has received multiple prizes, including the Academic Prize in L4 and L5, as well as scoring all 8s in her end of year exams. One of her proudest moments came in Maths, where she achieved Gold in the UK Maths Challenge and went on to earn Bronze in the prestigious Grey Kangaroo round |

On the sports field, Annie is just as committed. A sports scholar and passionate hockey player, she plays in defence and trains up to five times a week. She was vice-captain of the U14A team this year, and also captains the Junior Yeovil and Sherborne Hockey Club team. Her dedication has led to high- level representation. She has played for Somerset County U14s, trained with the U15s and competed with the West Panthers who represent the South West of England and reached the finals last summer. |
She has also been invited to trial for the Hockey Talent Academy in September 2025. Annie’s enthusiasm for sport also goes beyond hockey. She has loved developing her lacrosse game and recently competed at Nationals with the Sherborne Girls U14 team. She’s also a keen runner, training with the SG running club and taking part in regular cross-country races. |
