A Unique Blend of Drill & Dialogue

Imo Coote

When Imo joined the Sherborne Combined Cadet Force (CCF) at 14, she never imagined the profound impact it would have on her journey, both at school and beyond.

What began as a curious step into something new soon became a defining part of her time at Sherborne Girls. Now 17, and a recent leaver, she exits as Cadet Sergeant Major of the Army Section, having led with confidence, integrity, and a deep sense of purpose.

Her time in the CCF tested her but it also equipped her with the leadership and resilience needed to thrive. From her earliest days as a sceptical cadet to earning an Army Scholarship and securing a place at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, Imo’s growth has been extraordinary.

Starting her training at Sandhurst this year, she is proud to carry forward all she has learned at Sherborne into the next chapter of her life.

But Imo’s impact at Sherborne Girls went far beyond the CCF.

As a Drama Scholar with a lifelong passion for performance, she embraced every opportunity on stage, from Miles Apart and Wonderland, to playing Elizabeth in Frankenstein, the narrator in Animal Farm, and, most memorably, Paulette in Legally Blonde. It was her first time singing in front of such a large audience, and she describes it as “the most fun I have ever had on stage.”

Throughout her time at Sherborne, Imo made the most of every opportunity; academic, co-curricular and creative. She leaves as someone who is not only prepared for the challenges ahead but excited to meet them head-on, carrying with her the courage, confidence and character that define a Sherborne Girl
