Intensive English - Junior Programme

Now in its 34th year!

You are never too young to start learning English – at Sherborne International, our long-established Junior Programme gives children aged 8–11* the chance to learn, grow, and make friends in a safe and happy environment.

(*or aged 12 if they do not have parental consent to go into Sherborne town with their friends at lunchtimes)

Academic Excellence in a Supportive Environment

Our Junior Programme is designed especially for younger learners aged 8–11, combining high-quality English tuition with a fun programme of activities, cultural trips, and safe boarding care.

  • Small Classes – average of 6–8 students per class ensures personalised support.
  • Intensive English – engaging lessons to build confidence and fluency with primary specialists. For example, they will feel more able to stand up in front of the group to deliver a short speech or poem, or join in a drama production. Lessons are 45 minutes long and there are 26 lessons each week (19.5 hours per week)
  • Broader Learning – introduction to subjects such as Maths, Science, Humanities, and Creative Arts through English, as well as learning to be independent and curious.
