Venues for Hire  

From intimate gatherings to large-scale celebrations, we offer the perfect setting. With four unique locations to choose from, our venues range from classic elegance to contemporary charm, ensuring a space to suit every occasion.

We cater for 30 to 400 guests, with flexible conference and event spaces supported by on-site hospitality outlets serving excellent coffee and hot and cold refreshments.

Our two fully equipped concert venues host audiences of 100 to 300, complete with piano, staging, lighting and AV.

For a truly special occasion, our two beautiful school chapels set in unique locations and are available to alumni for wedding ceremonies, offering a meaningful and memorable setting.

Sherborne Boys

Old School Room 

The Old School Room is a striking and characterful space that blends historic charm with modern comfort. With beautiful panelling, large windows and original architectural details, it offers a warm and impressive setting for a range of occasions, with underfloor heating and contemporary lighting.

The room can accommodate up to 40 guests seated or 60 standing, making it ideal for small wedding receptions, private lunches and dinners, pre-party drinks, as well as meetings and conferences.

An intimate and elegant venue, perfect for memorable gatherings in a unique setting.

Big School Room 

Big School Room was designed in the perpendicular style by architects Richard Herbert Carpenter and Benjamin Ingelow as a grand space for full school gatherings. Today, it remains one of the most striking and versatile venues on site, offering scale, character and flexibility for larger events.

The space accommodates up to 582 guests seated including the balcony (429 excluding), 134 for dining, and up to 436 standing (excluding balcony and risers), making it ideal for drinks receptions, exhibitions and trade fairs, finger buffets, memorials and ceremonies.

Powell Theatre 

The Powell Theatre is a well-equipped and welcoming performance space with strong ties to both the School and the wider community. Originally built in 1872 and later reopened as a theatre, it was named in honour of former Headmaster Robert Powell and officially opened by Richard Luce.

With seating for up to 218 guests or space for 260 standing, it provides a versatile setting for performances, presentations and larger gatherings.

Tindall Recital Hall

Designed by ORMS Architects and opened in 2010, the Music School is a striking contemporary building created to high environmental standards. Naturally ventilated with openable windows and roof lights, and designed to maximise daylight, the space combines sustainability with comfort and functionality.

At its heart is the Tindall Recital Hall is a dramatic three-storey performance space with sophisticated, adaptable acoustics, movable bleacher seating and professional lighting. It provides an impressive setting for a range of events.

With capacity for 106 guests seated or up to 200 standing, the hall is ideally suited to musical performances and concerts (tickets may be sold to the public; no food permitted).

Dining Hall

The Dining Hall was originally the school gymnasium, designed by Sir Reginald Blomfield. In 1975 the building was converted into the central

Originally designed as the school gymnasium, the Dining Hall was converted into the School’s central dining space in 1975, with a later extension added in 1986. Fully refurbished in 2022, it is now a bright, spacious and highly versatile venue suited to a wide range of events.

With capacity for up to 240 guests seated or 400 standing, it is ideal for drinks receptions, exhibitions, discos, lunches and dinners, wedding receptions and elegant dinner dances.

Fifth Form Garden

The Fifth Form Garden is the lawned area to the south of the chapel and the east of the English department and was formed when the English block was built in 1870. The south wall is all that remains of All Hallows church.

It is a great space to hold a drinks reception, outside classes and social events

Sherborne Girls

The Merritt Centre

The Merritt Centre is a multi-functional building boasting a state-of-the-art music and performance venue, it is the perfect venue for all your musical needs. It boasts 19 teaching rooms, 2 classrooms which are beautifully designed for music lessons and a state of the art recording studio.

 

The Gransden Hall 

The Gransden Hall is the main heart of the building is the concert hall. It has a superb acoustic, warm, and sufficiently resonant for both vocal and instrumental music. Acoustic banners allow a subtle flexibility of reverberation and the seating offers numerous configurations with which to accommodate varying numbers of performers and audience

The Lower Foyer 

The Lower Foyer has a lovely ambiance with fabulous views over the grounds and is available for private functions.

Queenies Café 

The Queenies Café can be open for your events and catering is available thorough our in house caterers.

The Beddington Building 

The Beddington Building is a self contained block which lends itself perfectly to courses or teaching for Lettings such as Language schools and day courses, where a class room is required. There is a purpose built lecture theatre and large foyer for breakouts.

Playing Fields & Gardens 

The extensive playing fields, gardens and outdoor play areas provide a beautiful and versatile setting for outdoor events. Ideal for garden parties, summer receptions or special occasions requiring a marquee, the grounds offer ample space and flexibility to create a bespoke event layout. 

 

Dining Hall 

A spacious and practical venue, the Dining Hall is well suited to larger gatherings that require generous open areas. With direct access to hard standing outside, it offers excellent flow for breakout sessions, catering setups or additional outdoor activities, making it a flexible option for both social and structured events. 

Sherborne International

Greenfield Hall 

A purpose-built, spacious hall complete with staging and a large open entrance area. The hall accommodates up to 120 guests seated and approximately 150 standing. It also benefits from a dedicated sound and lighting deck, making it ideal for performances, presentations, receptions and larger gatherings. 

Dining Hall (The Big Barn) 

The Dining Hall, affectionately known as The Big Barn, features a fully equipped kitchen and can cater for up to 60 seated guests. Once a traditional barn, it retains its original beamed ceiling, adding rustic charm and character. The space is perfect for private dinners, celebrations, workshops and community events.

The Barn

This small but perfectly formed barn, complete with mezzanine floor and fully fitted kitchen, lends itself to a multitude of occasions. Ideal for team-building sessions, a cosy relaxation room, bridal party preparation space, or small private gatherings. 

The Francis Building 

A self-contained building with ample parking, comprising two classrooms, two bathrooms, and a large open-plan room with kitchenette facilities. This versatile space is well suited to training days, meetings, and mini conferences.

Kings House (Accommodation) 

Originally a boarding house, Kings House now offers comfortable accommodation with 46 en-suite rooms and 4 rooms with Jack and Jill bathrooms. It provides an excellent alternative to traditional boarding houses on the main school sites and is particularly well suited to adult groups and short stays. 

The Weston Building 

The main school building at Sherborne International, equipped with multiple classrooms, science laboratories, staff facilities and bathrooms. It offers everything you would expect from a well-appointed small school campus, making it suitable for larger educational programmes and structured events.

Hanford Prep School

The Great Hall 

Set in the heart of the school’s beautiful Jacobean mansion, The Great Hall provides an impressive and characterful setting for events. Featuring a grand fireplace and elegant panelled walls, it is the perfect backdrop for private parties, special occasions and themed evenings such as murder mystery events. 

The hall can seat 50 guests comfortably at long banqueting tables and accommodate up to 100 standing, making it a versatile space for both formal dining and relaxed receptions. 

The Stables and Indoor Riding Arena 

The traditional and much-loved stables are located adjacent to the recently refurbished indoor riding arena. With its new floor covering and upgraded surrounds, the arena offers a flexible, open space suitable for a wide range of uses during the holidays — from larger gatherings and activity sessions to exhibitions, workshops or training events.
